I have created this blog to challenge myself to try new imaging, whether through my iPhone or my DSLRs. It is my desire to learn more about photography not only through the camera but with post processing which I find to be exciting and adventurous. As I shoot each image, I envision a finished product through the use of my camera tools and software.I hope as you view my posts, you too will enjoy my new ventures on my journey into the digital world of photogaphy. I enjoy using a camera to translate my visualization into reality on paper. Visualization is defined as the ability to see in the "mind's eye" the finished work before actual application. It is the creative process of images transitioning from the realm of the reactive and contemplative to the conscious and deliberate. An element of surreal gives the viewer a different perspective on the subject, removing the literal and getting down to the essence of conveying the energy of the subject. For me, the image begins when the work goes beyond merely representing reality and enters the realm of personal expression. My methods are meant to be intentional, whether in the camera or post processing.

Summer Breeze
I'm ready for a little summer right about now! I start to get the winter blahs in mid February and long for the beautiful summer days. Won't be long now so I thought I would post a tropical image to get me in the mood...:):):) I decided to treat the image with a soft focus to make me feel breezy and warm. The colorful adirondack chair invites me to just sit and enjoy the soft sea breeze and lull me into a summer afternoon nap...if only :):):)

Smashed Dahlias
I shot the dahlias through my kitchen window one afternoon and while I liked the dahlias, I didn't like the overall BG and wasn't too sure about the dahlias either. In the meantime, I've experimented some with textures, layering, etc and decided to try some new things with my images. The water shot was taken while I was in the car and the rain was pounding the windshiled. I decided to layer the two images and when I got done, I liked the "smashed window" effect that I created. Just having some fun this afternoon...beats doing taxes :):):)
Then I took it a bit further and grunged it up some to add texture and a bit of "old" feel to it. I think I like it...at least, the creative brain is trying!!! More to come :):):)

Brooklyn Bridge...Again!
I'm still working on some of my December images from Brooklyn. I'm almost done with Brooklyn but before I leave NYC behind, I'd like to present 2 different moods of the bridge on the same morning. I'm not sure which one I like better. I emphasized the bridge in the BG a lot more than the image below for a more detailed mood on a foggy morning. However, the one below shows the bridge fading in the fog which creates a moody feel. Which one do you like? Or do you like either of them at all!!!??? Thanks for viewing my Brooklyn shots. I'll be working on some new ones in the weeks to come.

Rocky Morning
This image was shot on the same day as my other foggy images in Brooklyn along the East River. What captured my eye in this image was the monotone view with a touch of the tan grasses and a bit of the green grass in the BG....a nice contrast to the otherwise monotone shot.
It's been a while since I posted or even picked up the camera. I am a tax preparer and of course, this is my busy time of the year. I probably won't be posting too much in the next few weeks but I do appreciate all of you who visit my website. It is much appreciated! Keep checking back as I will get my act together!!! :):):)

Boat Reflection
Boats and reflections go together well. This image is no exception. Reflections of the boat's front coupled with the waves in the water enhance the mood of the photo. I'm a sucker for reflections :):):)

Butterflies
What caught my eye at first was the dilapidated awning on the trailer. On a closer look, I was struck by the butterfly adornments. I imagined that a young family lived in this trailer at one point and the butterflies were applied to the exterior to put a smile on their child's face...a whimsical moment. And now... just a reminder of the abandonment of the home.

Magical Hour
Magical hours are usually known at sunrise and sunset because of the position of the sun and the lighting. Add fog to the mix and it really becomes magical. As the sun set one evening, the fog was rolling in at the same time and the lights were beginning to come on for the evening. Fog, lights equals mystery and magical. I liked the mood that was set with nature's elements.
