I enjoy using a camera to translate my visualization into reality on paper. Visualization is defined as the ability to see in the "mind's eye" the finished work before actual application. It is the creative process of images transitioning from the realm of the reactive and contemplative to the conscious and deliberate. An element of surreal gives the viewer a different perspective on the subject, removing the literal and getting down to the essence of conveying the energy of the subject. For me, the image begins when the work goes beyond merely representing reality and enters the realm of personal expression. My methods are meant to be intentional, whether in the camera or post processing.

Bottle Tree

There's a wonderful art gallery on Pine Island in the town of Matlacha and the lady who runs it, loves to paint and paint and paint...anything and everything. It's eye candy for a photographer! Anyway, she had all these clear bottles that she painted and made them into a tree! Super fun!!! I had a great time shooting all her "artsy fartsy" stuff!

Remnants

Spring is around the corner but I'm still working on fall images!!! You know when a bride and groom depart the church and they are covered with rose petals thrown at them. This reminds me of that...the remnants left on the ground after a "hooray" moment. I wanted to "romanticize" the image a bit and soften it a little.

Textures

I revised this image and I'm still not happy with the web version...at least on my iPad. I'll take a look at it on my PC when I get home to see how the sharpness looks. Any comment from the peanut gallery about the sharpness would be greatly appreciated!

It's been a long time in between posts. Life has a way of interfering with my true love....photography! I'm at my daughter's house in NYC babysitting my 3 month old grandson who's fast asleep at the moment. Such wonders to watch my beautiful grandson! I shot this image at a botanical garden. It was a bright morning and the colors were a bit over-highlighted so I went to the b and w version and upped the contrast to show off the textures more. I like the sharp contrast of the grass and lily pads and I also like the "midnight" sense of light. Hope you do too.

Above the Clouds

High above the clouds, one has time to reflect...about all sorts of things. When I was a child, I used to fly with my parents and they would always let me have the window seat. I used to imagine that I would jump out of the plane and land on the puffy clouds. I thought the clouds looked so comfortable...like a pillow. I wanted to be "queen of the sky" and my queendom would be the earth!!! I was dressed like Eloise of the Plaza :):):) what a vivid image that was! My reflection today on this plane...just let me get a few winks of sleep!
