I enjoy using a camera to translate my visualization into reality on paper. Visualization is defined as the ability to see in the "mind's eye" the finished work before actual application. It is the creative process of images transitioning from the realm of the reactive and contemplative to the conscious and deliberate. An element of surreal gives the viewer a different perspective on the subject, removing the literal and getting down to the essence of conveying the energy of the subject. For me, the image begins when the work goes beyond merely representing reality and enters the realm of personal expression. My methods are meant to be intentional, whether in the camera or post processing.

Midwest Spring

It's been a very wet spring in the Midwest and many farmers are late getting their crops in the ground. This one field has "mustard" growing rather than corn or soybeans! Hopefully, the farmers will get in the field soon.

Lovely wisteria just beginning to bloom on these old vines on a church building. The tulips and flowers in the stone "window" box on the stonewall added to the aura of this image. A bit of vintage and texture added to enhance the charm of the old church.

Nimble

I liked these blooms and long stems. They seemed agile and lithe. I softened them up to add to the aura of the image.

Hanging

I visited the 100th Chelsea Flower Show in London. It was an amazing display of florals, gardens, sculptures etc. You name it. The show had it! Awesome! This is an image from a display of flowers hanging from a wire ceiling. It was so cool to stand under the flowers and look up to the heavenly ceiling. Beautiful.

Up, Up and Away

I have just returned from England where I visited the Cotswold Hills and London. While I was in London, I visited the Chelsea Flower Show. What a fabulous show and so much to photograph. It will take me months to go through all my photos, always a chore yet always fun to remember my trip. I thought I would start with this image as it reminded me of my trip...Up, Up and Away!!! This is a statue at the flower show and it seemed to tower over the trees, soaring into the sky. Hold onto your hat, she screams!!! I decided to add an aura of mystical, magical, fairy tale like! More to come!

Night Light

Another tulip...I just can't stay away from them! Anyway, I started out with my usual post processing but somewhere along the way, I ended up with this and I think I really like it. I like the glow emanating from the center of the bloom to the outer part of the flower and beyond. It reminds me a touch of moonlight. And while the "rules of third" do not apply here, that's okay with me. The top leaves room for more to do either with text or perhaps adding a moon!!!

Becky's Pots

My sister-in-law recently passed away. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed getting her pots ready every summer for the season. I found these broken pots in her backyard hidden under a large tree by a shed. Somehow, the pots reflected my mood...broken.

Thinking of You...

The last few weeks have seen quite a bit of turmoil in our country. I try not to let it get to me but sometimes, I just want to throw up my hands and shout some common sense into people. And yet, I know my voice is only one in a billion or more. So this image is my way of expressing my thoughts to all of those who have been subject to violence and turmoil. May you find peace within and I'm thinking of you...
