I have created this blog to challenge myself to try new imaging, whether through my iPhone or my DSLRs. It is my desire to learn more about photography not only through the camera but with post processing which I find to be exciting and adventurous. As I shoot each image, I envision a finished product through the use of my camera tools and software.I hope as you view my posts, you too will enjoy my new ventures on my journey into the digital world of photogaphy. I enjoy using a camera to translate my visualization into reality on paper. Visualization is defined as the ability to see in the "mind's eye" the finished work before actual application. It is the creative process of images transitioning from the realm of the reactive and contemplative to the conscious and deliberate. An element of surreal gives the viewer a different perspective on the subject, removing the literal and getting down to the essence of conveying the energy of the subject. For me, the image begins when the work goes beyond merely representing reality and enters the realm of personal expression. My methods are meant to be intentional, whether in the camera or post processing.

Underworld
Visiting Chicago last weekend and I got the opportunity to shoot some images for a few hours. I walked under Lake Shore Dr towards the Oak St Beach and found a perfect spot to lean against the wall with my iPhone watching people come and go "through the light". I waited for just the right person and this man with his dog fit the bill for me. I liked the man's neon jogging pants and his black Lab seemed to be just right as his companion. This was alot of fun for me. After applying various apps, the final image reminded me of "the underworld"...
