I have created this blog to challenge myself to try new imaging, whether through my iPhone or my DSLRs. It is my desire to learn more about photography not only through the camera but with post processing which I find to be exciting and adventurous. As I shoot each image, I envision a finished product through the use of my camera tools and software.I hope as you view my posts, you too will enjoy my new ventures on my journey into the digital world of photogaphy. I enjoy using a camera to translate my visualization into reality on paper. Visualization is defined as the ability to see in the "mind's eye" the finished work before actual application. It is the creative process of images transitioning from the realm of the reactive and contemplative to the conscious and deliberate. An element of surreal gives the viewer a different perspective on the subject, removing the literal and getting down to the essence of conveying the energy of the subject. For me, the image begins when the work goes beyond merely representing reality and enters the realm of personal expression. My methods are meant to be intentional, whether in the camera or post processing.

Abstract Reflection
I have a love affair with boats and their reflections. I have always felt that a boat could take me away from reality and send me into the depths of the ocean (or lake or pond or puddle!!!). With this image, I strived to not only portray the boat and its reflection but to have the waves of the ocean form a bond with the boat and make me feel like I'm on the boat in the ocean....one to one with the boat and ocean. The image is a 2 layered shot...waves and reflections...boat and reflections. I'm on the boat in the waves and life has become surreal...it's a nice feeling.
